WinOnX 64 App Reviews

WinOnX used run some Windows programs. Now, on Yosemite, it does nothing but crash. The little bit of usefulness the app once had is gone.

Fonts on Yosemite are Black on a Black background and can not be changed. This makes the program virtually useless.

Just loaded this app 12/21/2014. Watchtower Library 2013 CD would not load on my MacBook Air (with latest OS) as it was only configured for Windows. I purchased and loaded this app. Installed the CD in the Apple Superdrive. I then ran the Watchtower setup by double clicking the setup icon from the CD. The disc loaded perfectly. When I want to use the information from the CD, I load up this app, click the icon, and the program runs so far perfectly. Thank you for this fine app. MJM

I check the compatibility database. It said all of the things would work. They didn’t. I want my $5 back.

Here’s the thing. If you’re not the tech savvy type of person, this is going to drive you insane. The interface is very basic and you do have to understand how the filing setup works, but overall its a great program. At first I was very hesitant about spending 5 dollars, especially after seeing the 2 stars, but when I read the reviews it made me think twice, but in the end it was well worth the small investment. I would rather have bought this program than spend a lot more for a full blown Windows OS that I would have to upload to Parallels; which is an additional cost as well. Then again all I wanted/needed done was just to have documents opened, to view, and print them; and that’s exactly what it did for me. Outstanding!!

Most application have dmg/Mac format. But some large Enterprise systems still provide support files only in .exe format and I don’t want to be dependent on using my PC to run them. This application allows me to run a simple help file on my Mac without having to install and maintain Parallel and Windows. Thanks!

It seems this program is only good for running well known windows applications. If you’re trying to run something more obscure or older you won’t get anywhere. If there’s a problem with a windows program you have the option to resolve it by going to their website and looking for a solution, but 9 times out of 10 you won’t get any information on what went wrong. Save your money, get something more worthwhile like Wine.

Seriously. It doesnt open any windows applications on my computer. Wasted 5$ on something that did not do anything it was expected to do.

This application didn’t show a thing when I tried to open some x-ray files. A total waste of$5 and time.

There is no support for this app at all! It crashed too often and didn’t deliver the promise. Worst of all, I couldn’t even get a refund for this app even after I uninstalled it and reported to Apple. I would like to get my money back. This is a waste of time. Please don’t buy this! If you want something truly functional go with parallels, it is more expensive but it is more reliable as well.

This is exactly what I needed. I had an old CD-Rom with a windows program that I needed to use and this totally worked! So happy I happened to stumble on this app. Thanks!

Attention Mac users…. This is the tool yolu’ve been looking for. Don’t move along; buy it today! I don’t often review Apps, but this one solved several serious technical challenges for me. It’s not flashy, and that’s good. It’s a small application that does only what it’s meant to do. It’s easy to learn, and it is one powerful tool for a new application designer like myself.

1. Google Chrome will not work; but Firefox will. 2. I tried to use it to run an Windows App for Windows 8.1. No go. It would not even give me the option of a download for the app store. I tried several ways. 3. Lots of errors, installation failures and “egad” messages on the failed Chrome install. I guess this is why there are 86 one star ratings. What a waste.

I can almost gaurentee this program will not do what you want it to. fisrt off: this is literally wine, a free open source program packed together and put on the app store for 5 bucks. second: wine is already a better program and having this installed while attempting to use the regular wine app ( the free one ) will most certianly break it. Third: this does not work with any installers whatsoever, and attempting to install anything onto the simulated disk drive WinOnOs attempts to create will crash the application and (in my case) your computer. Don’t buy it. I though with my decent tech skills I would be able to make it do what I wanted but it refuses to do so. Even after attempting to submit a ticket to the owners. nothing happens

These comments must be fixed because every time that i click on the app it crashes and does not install the progarm as it promiised to do when i paid my money for this crap!!!

I appreciate how well integrated this is to Wine, however, it really should be stated that it provides no 64 bit compatibility. I was unable to use my desired Windows application because I did not know this limitation before purchasing.

This app is a very stripped nown version of wine. They try to tell you it is for the non techie but it is not worth it. I had newsbin pro installed and after downloading the headers ( newsbin pro is a usenet reader which can have millions of articles (headers”) As i dragged the bar down to get to the newer posts the posts listed started to slowly get smaller and smaller ( the print was getting smaller) untill nothing appeared it seems that winonx has a memery management issue . It does not alot enough memorry. The program gets unstable easily I downloaded wine and after i downloaded newsbin pro it was faster more stable and all the headers were still readabel after trying to go down the list. i had other programs too and theywere unstable on winonx. If your not the least bit techie as it says don’t waist your time and money with this app. Hopefully they will make it a bit more techie and still easy to use in the future

I have one small Windows program that is not available for Macs and I took the chance that this program WinOnX might do the trick for me. Well I guessed wrong. This program doesn’t work, period. I hope the people who put this program out find a way to make it work or take it off the APP Store.

i bought this app thinking it would be useful but i guess I’m wrong, everytime i tried using it its always “not responding” making my mac slow

This app is rubbish. It did not work well with anything. Errors on every file. DO NOT BUY!! unless you like wasting your money.
